@Withnail1969 You are correct most US oil cannot be used for efficient diesel production but how does that qualify your opening statement "it's not true though". The US does not need most of its oil for petrochemicals.

@Withnail1969 The US has the world's largest petrochemical processing industry in the world. It is the only industry of scale that can export enough products for international production. There are certain countries that rely on those products for their industries.
