No. UK and US have nothing to gain from it. All it would do is weaken European energy supplies. I would suspect that not even the Russian government really wanted this to happen. It was probably a group that made the decision inside the system.

@connor1414 Most people do not understand that modern Germany industry has its roots in US industry. China only makes up about €90 billion of German Exports. The US market is worth about €140 billion to Germany. Then you have to take into account all the other countries that Germany exports to such as the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Poland, Netherlands and France. China and Russia will never make up for those loses. Germany is not going to align with the east and the pipeline has nothing to do with that. Unless you are suggesting that the US was targeting Germany as a warning?

@connor1414 There are probably people in the US that feel the same way and that probably happened in and before the period of WW2 as well.
