I do not think either side has lost that much men relative to their actual force size. Russia has a problem in that their special operation simply was not enough to do anything.

Russia's problem right now is not that it lacks troops but it lacks the ability to deploy them without it calling for total war. That will be a one time deal that they will not be able to easily call up again. Putin has chess pieces on the board but does not want to use them but that presents its own problems.

Russia does not need anything like that even though it is not beyond their ability to stage in a really obvious fashion. Putin has the ability to call for war but while he may have the back of the elites in Russia there maybe a refusal throughout their system.

@andrewj4426 Ukraine did not lose anywhere near 100,000 men. The reason Russia have lost more is due to them being the attacking side trying to enter into Ukrainian areas.
