  1. The US does not use its ships in the same way Russia does. The US would not dare be seen using a ship that heavily armed in that capacity. The US navy operates in groups meaning that they do not send one ship to do a task it would be a battle group. There military is so large that they can afford groups to do the roles that other countries use with one ship. The US Marine Corp budget is as big as the whole of the Russia defence budget. The US marine Corp has an airforce that is larger than the Russian air force.

  2. The US approach is a mixed approach and the reason they can do that is due to the scale of the US military. The USMC budget is almost as big as the Russian defence budget.

  3. I am sorry but a ship packing some larger guns and more missiles is not going to take out a US carrier which has an attack range of 2000 miles. A sneak sub might be able to do damage but carrier groups have an immense defence system. Any such attack would be suicide.

  4. The US navy is so large that it can afford to have so many different classes of ship. The US Military is designed to operate as groups. The US coast guard has more military grade vessels than many countries navy have.

  5.  @jhill4874  Aviation is modern warfare. It is like saying armies have too much dependency on guns and should use more swords. Remember US naval aviation is layered with other systems. It is not a case of one thing and nothing else. The scale is so large and powerful that most people do not actually understand its implications. I once saw Putin talk about it and it went over most people's heads. Putin understands who is number one and he will work in his own interests.

  7.  @anastas11ace80  Did you really ask that question? Now since you have asked the question I will answer it for you. US attack aircraft have a range of about 2000 miles. US aircraft carriers do have surface to air missiles, gun systems and anti submarine systems in place. You then have to factor that US carriers are part of groups and are not isolated. They are part of an attack system that is extremely formidable. The fact they have an effect attack range of 2000 miles means they do not have to be in an exchange to cause massive damage and their primary role is to take out countries.

  11.  @Mashineish  Because US carrier groups have an effective war range of about 3 million square miles. Such Russian ships are not going to be allowed to get within an attack range. One ship is not going to be able to cut through a layer of several ships to get to one carrier ship that will be attacking from the get go. US also uses surface to air missile systems in volume to overwhelm opposition on top of the group directly attacking.
