Things to do after installing Fedora Silverblue: by Karl Schneider Step 1: Open Firefox and navigate to https://www.youtube.com/doriandotslash Step 2: Watch the video titled "Fedora Silverblue 30 could be the future!" Tip: Be sure to take notes. Step 3: Click "Like" (AKA: the Thumbs Up icon) Step 4: Click "Share" and share the video on any and all of your favorite social media platforms Step 5: Watch the video titled "Silverblue 2-week update and answers" -- again, take notes Step 6: Smash that "Like" icon Step 7: Repeat step 4! Step 8: Click the Patreon link on the DorianDotSlash YouTube home page (patreon.com), search DorianDotSlash, then choose a monthly payment amount, because you didn't have to research any of this and it was presented to you in a way that even I could understand. Tip: An easy way to calculate the proper amount is to think of the amount of money you spend on stupid, unneeded and/or unhealthy crap each month. Multiply that number by 1.... That number is your monthly pledge. And you will be happier and healthier! Step 9: Read through the notes you took and have at it! You are now one of the first to be computing like everyone will be in the future. You are essentially Marty McFly.

Great video, Dorian. Antergos has been my daily driver (on and off) for a couple years now. Cnchi was a mess for a while, but the last big overhaul really solved a lot of the issues the installer had. Cnchi also as a cool option to automatically setup /boot/efi, /boot, /(root) and /home on separate partitions, which is handy for dual booting. GNOME was my DE of choice forever because I love the workflow. As of late I've gone all in on Plasma (since 5.12 was released) on my main rig. RAM usage is way down compared to GNOME and it's very easy to create the GNOME workflow (and improve that workflow) in Plasma. For light weight distros I always gravitate toward Peppermint and Linux Lite. For REALLY light weight Antix is pretty great. Sorry for rambling. :)

Great tutorial, Dorian! I've installed Arch a dozen or so times and never once thought to install all of my other software with pacstrap. Nice tip. Thank you, sir. Hope the wife, kids and yourself are doing well. Dash on!

Great review, brother. I used elementary as a daily driver quite a few years back. It lasted 3 days... tops. I 100% agree with the "locked down" aspect of the distro. Mac-like is and understatement and that's totally okay for that type of user. I can think of a handful of people I would recommend it to. However.... a distro not recognizing my printer drives me insane and that would be kind of a deal breaker for me recommending it to my mother-in-law. Not having "Elementary Tweaks" and canning settings makes zero sense to me as well. Don't get me wrong. I think Daniel and the team had done some amazing work. It looks beautiful and very consistent throughout. It's just not my cup of tea.

As always, great work, Sir!

Nice! Manjaro is pretty awesome. I haven't used it in a what seems like forever. Maybe it's time to check out Manjaro again. Also, thank you for the shout out. You are a gentleman and a scholar. :) Let me know when the new Scion Linux is available for testing. I'd love to take it for a spin.

Congrats, brother! You just do what you need to do with family and work and we'll be here. We ain't going anywhere! :)

Very well done. Production was top notch. I have to admit, I learned a thing or two. ...okay maybe three.

Hey Dorian. A few years ago I would sometimes have issues booting from USB and burning iso's properly to USB. I started making it a practice to reformat my USB sticks everytime prior to dd command. Gparted > select my usb > delete all existing partitions > new partition table (msdos or GPT) > new partition (entire usb to fat32). I haven't had an issue since.

Love the new logo! I may have to take Netrunner for a spin. I've never tried it. Thanks, Dorian.

Also, as always, if you need more graphic goodies, let me know. I'm at your service.

Damn! You've been a busy man! Everything is looking very good. I'll be checking it out tonight.

Q4OS reminds me of what Korora is to Fedora or Gecko is to OpenSUSE. It's an awesome Debian base but not stuck to the "free only" policy. As for stock, plain ol' Debian, there is no "non-free" software (google-chrome, nvidia drivers, codecs etc...) You can install all of these things but Debian doesn't make it easy as where Q4OS makes it very easy. The packages tend to be older in Debian stable (and testing for that matter) but it is super rock solid and will run forever in production.

One thousand subs and counting! Keep up the great work Dorian. If you need anything let me know.

Looking good! What ever you need, just let me know. I'm always around. :)

I know exactly what you mean. There have been many a time where I've worked on something for hours and hours and finally just hit DELETE and start from scratch. :) Great video.

3 of my personal favorites. :)

Not to mention Mark from Peppermint and DolphinOracle from MX are super great guys.

The newer Plasma settings is much better. If it's possible to update plasma to the latest release, I'd do it.

Krunner seems very well put together. I would imagine, very stable as well.

Damn.... Everything but the kitchen sink.

100% agree.

The pointer "loading" animation was a nice touch! :)

Hey Dorian. DistroTube did a quick overview of Scion. https://youtu.be/lQqyoIoHweg

So cool. Thank you for sharing all of this info. The Fedora Project should have Red Hat cut you a paycheck! Paid with IBM money of course! Great video. The most impressive feature of Silverblue is the bending of space and time. Editing videos before they're recorded is priceless. :)

@Doriandotslash So to recap... Silverblue is now living in the penthouse suite (Prime Real Estate) and Window s has been evicted and kick to the curb like a bum.... Sounds like a good week. Have fun at the wedding!

I can't wait! Keep 'em coming. Silverblue is such a cool project and so interesting. Thanks for helping me wrap my head around it. But take your time. No rush. As you said.. It's summer. Enjoy it.
