The "hotels" that accept homeless vouchers should not be allowed to accept cash paying guests. It should be an all or nothing type deal. And those that accept vouchers should have a list of requirements like increased security and more hygiene (like bed bug inspections). This is the tradeoff they must accept in order to get year-round occupancy from homeless people.

It can't be solved, but it can be mitigated. For starters, go back to the 'carrot and stick' approach. Offer treatment as an alternative to jail, but one of those needs to happen. A lot of addicts only quit using after the cold water of doing jail time hits them. Being in jail or a treatment program is their only real chance to get clean. Now we just enable addicts to do drugs until they die of an overdose or succumb to the violence of living on the street. Second, drastically increase sentencing for meth, heroin and fentanyl dealers. Go back to 1990s levels of incarceration if that is what it takes! Third, SECURE THE FREAKIN BORDER to keep the tsunami of drugs from entering our country through Mexico along with human trafficking!

@Victic005 Reducing human trafficking is a major benefit of securing the border. Prostitutes also use low-rent motels for their services. Now they probably get the room for free!

@Victic005 Human trafficking doesn't occur at the US border? Are you serious? San Diego is also identified as one of the worst regions of the country for this as well.
