@theangrycheeto Coincidentally, Tobias Capwell has done a lecture called "Building Medieval Plate Armor An Operator's Guide" (which can be seen here on YouTube) where he talks, among other things, about the reality of low-quality medieval armor. For a shorter video more closely focused on the topic, Knyght Errant did a video called "Medieval Material Culture - Quality: Then vs Now," which includes some of the information from Tobias Capwell's talk.

There are a number of historical topics that just aren't 100% clear, and so you end up with historians who have different opinions.

Going to be hard to find anyone who will admit to having actually tortured people. Closest thing is one of the channels did a video where a former FBI agent looked at interrogation scenes, but that was about verbal stuff, not anything physical.
