@tobiashagstrom4168 Obsidian claimed that they've got stuck with an engine limitation that prevented them to do what they wanted with the gun on tight schedule they had. Idea of holorifle is basically that: you empty an energy of whole MFC into a single shot of this photon weapon. So it's something "not quite laser, not quite plasma" just as Star Wars "laser" weapons.
