  1. #AskIan Ian, what's your opinion on soviet/russian 6x49 rounds that were supposed to replace both century old rimmed full rifle 7.62x54R and first generation "big" intermediate 7.62x39mm that was already partially phased out in favour of second gen lighter intermediate 5.45x39mm of same case? Was it a good idea from technological and military PoV that was put into early grave only due to political, economical and logistical reasons? Or was it a wrong direction, considering with what we see developed nowadays in USA where people seek to replace .308 with more powerful rifle round for sharpshooter rifles, battle rifles and medium machine guns?
