  1. Answer to the title: Ukraine is MASSIVE geographically speaking. Invading such a country is insanely difficult if they can fight back. But if the whole West/NATO is supporting it, it becomes even more difficult. The current fighting is separated by a massive river and lakes. Russia can not penetrate this line easily, and neither can Ukraine.
