  1. Attacking from the sides sounds nice, if you wouldn't only attack the blocker defense line fromt he sides, while the main defense lines regarding fire power are behind those and you just run into their kill zone with your "smart tactic".

  2. I mean, suprise, surprise. Told it all the delusional Nazi lovers oh so often, that a plan that is mainly about the hope that the enemy is an incompetent idiot, is only a plan for desaster. Even a weak enemy should never be underestimated. That's why all the laughs about Russia not pushing through is so stupid. They are simply careful and focus on minimizing losses. That's very smart.

Oh, the solution is as simple as close to impossible: you would have to push through or in any other way manage to clean out or at least disperse the actual main firepower defense lines in 2nd and 3rd row. Of course the existence of the first row is exactly that: to not let you do this, while the 2nd and 3rd row rips you apart. The only way to get around this is heavy far ranged firepower of any kind and of course the needed surveillance to use it. But even then we you fight someone like Russia, well, they of of course also got their tools like anti air and ECM to counter this. As said: it's simple but close to impossibkle if you don't fight a very outgeared enemy.
