@Ryk At start, yes (also it's not Russia alone, Ukraine is fighting Ukraine since 2014, people forget that this all started as civil war, or better as the try to genocide the whole east and south because it would not follow the coup, and Ukraine even got stuck against those people, though with support of NATO they would have been able to finish it when they started the brutal bombarding again in Feb 2022 - but the Russia intervened). Meanwhile so many died for nothing, that you don't really have much actual soldiers left. A lot of freshly send cannonfodder, but those just die even faster and for even less than nothing.
