  1. When I was based in Shanghai I was given a very firm brief: Have nothing to do with Shanghai girls. Avoid. Always. Every time I checked into the Sheraton hotel after about 10 minutes I would get a knock on the door and a very pretty Shanghai girl was there asking me if I wanted an 'extra blanket'. I declined as it was high Summer. After three times - and with the girls getting prettier every time - I twigged what was going on!
