Unfortunately the crooked racketeers running Russia have cast the GPE SOP as an existential struggle for Russia, and most of the people seem to have bought into that false narrative propaganda. Some on the street interviewees that will talk do acknowledge the corruption going on as common knowledge, but that they're little people without any say, as you've stated here. So, also unfortunately, this looks to be a long and costly GPE for both sides.

@romanzavsegolov4925 The war is still a stalemate. And more aid is flowing again. The cost for Russia has been prohibitive in materiel, blood and treasure. With a crumbling economy and ruble. Defeat for Russia will come from internal collapse, like USSR before it. Or Imperial Germany in WW1. Ukraine wins by not losing. 50 nations with 30x Russia's beleaguered economy actively aid Ukraine. U.S. economy alone is $28t, Russia's $2t. They can't sustain this in the long run. All the west need do is stay the course. Putin dares not call a general mobilization. Even if Russia "wins", they still lose. They can't afford to rebuild Ukraine or even their own country. Their military decimated and their economy in shambles, with a worthless currency. And ever-tightening sanctions still in place.

@romanzavsegolov4925 I would hardly call Russia's situation in Ukraine a winning one. It's still a relative stalemate, with EU ramping up their support and U.S. aid flowing freely again. Compared to what they started out with, their net gains have been relatively modest: just 9% of the country. Hardly worth the horrendous sacrifice with no end in sight. At the cost of 80% of their starting invasion force and total casualties of well over 1/3m, most of their elite Spetznas, 3000 frontline tanks, 15,000 armored vehicles, hundreds of aircraft, including AWACS and strategic bombers, 1/3 of their Black Sea Fleet. Not to mention the vast amounts of treasure and the ruination of their economy. Again, with no real end in sight. Russia can not keep this up in the long run. EU's economy is 10x bigger than Russia's. U.S. alone is $28t versus $2t for Russia. And it's heavily sanctioned. And the ruble is collapsing, barely a penny to the dollar. Even if they eventually "win", they still lose. They can't afford to rebuild Ukraine, let alone their own country. And the ever-tightening sanctions will remain in force indefinitely.

@romanzavsegolov4925 I wouldn't say Russia is exactly winning. Even if they do "win" it will never have been worth the horrendous cost to their military and economy. They won't be able rebuild Ukraine let alone their own country. Lotsa luck for Russia's future with ever-tightening sanctions remaining in force indefinitely and a collapsing ruble.
