This incident was in May, AFTER Russia invaded Crimea and Donbas, and started the Russo-Ukrainian war. Violence in Odesa erupted on May 2, when a "United Ukraine" rally was attacked by pro-Russian agents (aided by pro-Russian police) who started to kill Ukrainian patriots. The Primorsky Court of Odesa later sentenced regional police chief Dmitry Fuchedzhi to 15 years in prison, but he fled to Russia. All basic facts from Wikipedia: "2014 Odesa clashes". When a president flees his country to escape liability for bloodshed under his leadership (Maidan casualties), that's not a coup. Coup was in Russia in 1993 when tanks were shooting at Parliament building. Ukrainian Parliament stayed in power, including president's own party, and the Judicial branch also stayed in power. Russia used this political crisis to start the war, and invaded Crimea in February 2014, and Donbas in April 2014 using its "little green men" army. The Russian failed 2022 blitzkrieg was just a major offensive in the Russo-Ukrainian war started by Russia in 2014.
