@vumba1331 Doing something secretly wont have any effect on US behaviour. An overt move like a base or port would pile on the pressure with politicians in Congress.

@maryhuckaby2239 You are quite correct the US today has no level headed individual like JFK. I wasnt suggesting anything as drastic as placing nukes, just some military assets to send a strong signal to US that Russia wants security guarantees.
