  1. Not only Japan and UK, even in India, there is a shortage of around 12,000 Officers in the Indian Armed Forces. But the shortfall was much higher in 2010, it has been falling since then. It all comes down to what your recruitment policies are, what your economy is doing and what your demographics are.

  2. Does seem unthinkable to me. In the Indian Air Force, forget non-pilots, even pilots that are not fighter pilots have almost zero chance of ever becoming the Air Chief Marshal.
