@MB-cv5pz Pollution Monitoring, I was thinking, was more along the lines of Oil Spill management, but OK. I mean don't put it past the practitioners of Gray Warfare like China to use oil spills as a weapon to torpedo your fishing economy and foment general discontent in your civilian communities and general population. Chinese will always try to invent such nasty methods instead of fighting head on.

Looking forward to seeing what the Indian Armed Forces name it. For example, Jaguar jets were named "Shamsher" in India (translation: Sword of Justice).

Err.....it is an American drone. It is indeed the exact same drone you are calling it a copy of.

Well, they aren't wrong. Pollution monitoring (oil spill cleanup) is a serious job in Coast Guards. For example, the biggest vessels in the Indian Coast Guard are the 4000 ton ships classed as "Pollution Control Vessels". Given the job of the Sea Guardian (ISR), I wouldn't put it past the Indian Navy to use these drones for pollution monitoring when operational load is a bit low and the Coast Guard needs some help. And I suspect the UK will use it similarly. Many military assets, especially naval ones, are dual use.

@abingdonboy Bhaiya ji, oil spills are not woke stuff. Samudra class ships (the largest in the Coast Guard) are specifically called "Pollution Control Vessels". Don't put it past the practitioners of Gray Warfare like China to use oil spills as a weapon to torpedo out fishing economy and foment general discontent in our civilian communities and general population. Chinese will always try to invent such nasty methods instead of fighting head on, as we have seen from their salami slicing. Heck, they might use the fishing disputes we have with the Sri Lankans too in such a strategy. When IN finally gets the Sea Guardians, I won't put it past them to use these drones for oil spill management if the need ever arises. We need to defend our EEZ.

They are already moaning about the "pollution control" role of these beauties. People seem to have a hard time realizing the utility of militaries beyond the pew pew stuff.

@Clickathon "Active Flow Control"? You mean "Fluidic Thrust Vectoring"?

@farzana6676 Probably why the Indian military is willing to shell $2.5 Billion for 18 of these. These drones have good ISR capabilities. Which is exactly what we need in the mountains against China. We've got the kinetic end covered.
