I have no issue with the safety and reliability of nuclear energy, but you are all in cloud cuckoo land with a extra dose of fantasy for measure if you think it will be cheap. Every LCOE study has Nuclear the most expensive way to produce electricity.

@fredbcf1255 A report by the Institute for Energy Ecomomics and Financial Analysis in a nutshell described NuScale as "too late, too expensive, too risky and too uncertain, considering it has been in development since 2000 and will not begin operations till after 2029. Maybe. I'm not saying nuclear doesn't have a future, but it is risky.

I mean FFS you can build a 350 Mw wind farm in 12 months for less than a $billion why would you spend 10 years dicking around with a SMR.

@hc3657 Never suggested otherwise, however extra capacity and storage maybe one possible solution. Of course your language of absolutes is immature and implies a closed mind. There are multiple technologies out there being developed and to suggest coal/gas/nucs are the only means of producing electricity is the attitude of a Luddite.

@hc3657 I understand you have no consideration for the environment or knowledge of the science or technologies available, but ultimately as long as the light comes on when you switch it and its cheap, why do you even care what is producing your electricity?
