That $22 billion surplus is outrageous financial management. Worse than anything Howard could do. Get the Libs back so we can run deficits again.

@infidel202 Yeah you got me on a typo, you must feel so proud of your devastating response. I’m crestfallen. I notice however you don’t seem to have addressed the actual facts or your inability to understand the fluctuations in commodity prices.

@infidel202 Your comment about the commodity prices would make just a little bit of sense if the price of iorn ore was significantly higher now than under 9 years of LNP government. It wasn’t. The actual fact is at times it was significantly higher under the previous LNP government. You don’t do much research before you comment do you? The price of coal is significantly down from 2 years ago as well. You really need to read more widely.

@infidel202 The royalties and or tax falls within the year of the budget as does the spending (unless it is in the forward estimates). Now inflation and hence higher tax revenues also played a part in this years budget surplus no argument. I understand you are embarrassed because you were ignorant of commodity prices and their fluctuations over the different periods of governments LNP v Labor, but to stupidly claim the entire budget surplus on high commodity price when they were significantly higher under the Libs is just comedy gold.

@infidel202 No, you got your facts completely wrong. Is a $22 billion surplus good or bad?

@infidel202 And that is a legitimate argument or point of discussion.

@infidel202 Just factually wrong again. During the Fraser government years deficit budgets were the norm and by the early 80s under a LNP government Australia was in stagflation and went into recession. During the GFC and subsequent world wide economic slowdown, under a Labor government Australia was the only OECD country that didn’t go into recession. Under a Morrison LNP government Australia suffered its first recession in over 25 years. I have fudged no numbers. All you have claimed is when conservatives spend and have deficit budgets it is good, but when Labor governments spend it is bad. When conservatives have budget surpluses its good financial management but when Labor has budget surpluses it is just luck. You are just hopelessly unable to support any of your claims. The Abbott and Turnbull governments both ran deficit budgets that added to National debt, and then the Morrison government spent more in 18 months than Rudd/Gillard did in 6 years. You simply can’t support your claims with data, all you have is an emotional attachment to conservative governments.
