Comments by "" (@pwillis1589) on "‘Disappointing’: New report which cast doubt on Australia’s nuclear plan has ‘problems’" video.
No nuclear power plant has ever lasted 100 years. That comment is factually incorrect.

@buildmotosykletist1987 No, even with transmission and storage + viability solar still comes in significantly cheaper than nuclear. If some RWNJ decided it would be clever to copy my user name then that's on that knobhead, not me.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Spotted at what? Destroying every point you have ever made supporting nuclear energy. Well in that regard you are absolutely correct.

So there is no functioning commercial SMR in existence, why are you so confident there will be?
2
@awc900 There is more than enough information in the public domain about the costs associated with building a nuclear power plant. Obviously legislation change is needed for it to happen, but certainly not to estimate the cost. No energy provider in Australia has expressed any desire to go nuclear. What do you know about the cost of nuclear that the CEOs and management of every energy provider in the country doesn't?

@footbru There are multiple scientific and reputable agencies that have provided studies that all conclude that nuclear power is significantly more expensive than renewables. Even the Atomic Energy Agency admits once a grid is more than 30% renewables nuclear is unaffordable. Australia is already at 40% renewable. Going nuclear would be an economic disaster.

@buildmotosykletist1987 which one?
1
@buildmotosykletist1987 I don't know that as a fact, but the industry standard is 25 years, either way so what? They are so cheap to build and virtually 100% recyclable who cares if they don't last 20 years they are still significantly cheaper than nuclear power over 100 years.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Large scale solar is between $29 and $46 per MWh. Nuclear is between $252 and $420 per MWh. Depending on which study you read. Even if you could make Nuclear last forever it couldn't even compete against coal. I admire the fortune you have amassed to enable you to afford Nuclear powered electricity.

@buildmotosykletist1987 That's a ridiculous claim. I am most certainly not "trickboy".
1
@buildmotosykletist1987 I honestly haven’t got a clue what you are talking about. You obviously are unable to engage on the facts about electricity generation and have decided to go off on some wild tangent. Yes there are two pwillis1589 but while I am the moderate sensible one the other is a Ultra extreme RWNJ bigot.

@buildmotosykletist1987 Again you are just clueless. I comment under just on name only.

Why is a legislation change needed to cost a nuclear power plant.

Who are”they”?

So cars powered by internal combustion engines have never caught fire?
