  2. @stevebaxter5873  Yep there is one in Russia as well. At this stage costs are 4 X that of a standard PWR. They very well may become economically viable, but not in our lifetime.

  5.  @awc900  I know of this particular event and HAZMAT teams cleared the site of any contamination. If you have evidence of contamination could you please reference that data. Thanks. Secondly solar farm infrastructure is now including advanced weather forecasting and a hail stow capability that significantly reduces the risk of hail damage. Job done. Next problem?

On a serious note, virtually 100% of a PV cell is recyclable, is this being done, no, but sufficient legislation and a future market will make this possible. There are companies both here in Australia and the US currently recycling solar panels. Yeah the planet hasn’t at all been damaged by the relentless search and exploitation of natural resources by the fossil fuel industry. Would you like me to start a list of fossil fuel environmental disasters? Neither would live to read that list in full. You touch on a very valid point about ethical mining. I totally agree these companies and their directors should be held to account. That doesn’t mean we ignore the resource. You paint a very gloomy future, I am far more optimistic that humankind can pull together to reduce the environmental disaster burning fossil fuels has caused.
