Why do you think no commercial operator will build a coal plant in Australia. And don’t say they can’t. There is no law stopping them.

@darwinjina That LAZARDs study from this year includes LCOS and in unsubsidised $ per MWh.

How about we remove the $10 billion in subsidies to the fossil fuel industry are year in Australia.

Read a LCOE study.

Read the latest LAZARDs LCOE study and others. Wind and solar are significantly cheaper at producing electricity.

@darwinjina Of course you have to be careful on who writes these reports and particularly who pays for them. I read a study recently that had Nuclear as the cheapest, however it was sponsored by the Nuclear industry council and didn’t take into account the huge regulatory costs associated with nuclear energy. Nuc is clean and green but very expensive.
2
@darwinjina There is a 2022 edition out that can be accessed from the internet. LAZARDS is not the only one. As you can imagine there are many investment firms and people who want to make money investing and people what to know the best investments.

@sjent LCOE studies show with zero subsidies wind and solar are significantly cheaper at producing electricity than coal.

Read any LCOE study.

@deanfielding4411 You lay out the data, you show them some facts and the best they have is a personal slur.

@random2829 Your personal view is irrelevant and an anecdotal fallacy and only added nonsensical gibberish to the discussion. I didn't mention efficacy or efficiency. LAZARDS in an investment company that analyses the energy market. LCOE is Levelised Cost of Energy. You are just factually wrong.

@alexandermelbaus2351 Read LAZARDS 2022 study on LCOS.

@random2829 What a pathetic response. You can't mount a coherent defence of your argument, so you call me a bot. Why not put your fingers in your ears and yell "I can't hear you" atleast that would have been a more mature response.

@johngeier8692 I have invested in diversified mining stocks, not specifically in any one commodity as I felt this was a bit too risky.

@johnwoodrow8769 What government intervention? Do you mean clean energy targets? Well duh we are poisoning the planet. What massive subsidies for renewables ? Fossil fuels have $10 billion in subsidies annually in Australia, plus all the infrastructure to mine, transport, burn, and export are all subsidised by taxpayers. Every LCOE study I have read says you are just factually wrong on every point you raised. Where do you get your information from?
