To be fair the ALP were big supporters of the policy as well. The unions were big supporters. You can’t just blame conservatives.

@welcomeaboard69 Yes that is a fair point. It was the Whitlam government I think that finally killed the WAP. And yes again I completely agree with you certainly in the last 50 years conservatives have relentlessly made scapegoats out of non English migrants. It is just that all sides of politics need to own up to the shame of the White Australia policy from 1901 to the 70s.

@indiathylane2158 I have no issues with your comment or J comment. My only point was the Labor party and the unions don’t get off scot free for the deep ingrained racism of our founding document or the White Australia policy.
