@Fire.4Effect Don’t get me wrong I have no problems with the safety and reliability of a PWR. My nephew is doing his fitter/turner apprenticeship. Good luck to you and your family. I’m a self funded retiree and paying exorbitant amounts for electricity doesn’t overly concern me. Mr and Mrs average will be screwed.

Yep just put that theory together and publish a scientific paper and have it peer reviewed. You are on a winner, Nobel prize awaits.

@Fire.4Effect As of 2023 the average time to build a PWR is 121 months.

The two AP1000 reactors Westinghouse built Vogtle 2 and 3 in Georgia US were approved in 2009 and have doubled in initial cost estimates to $30 billion US. South Carolina scrapped their AP1000 PWR after blowing $9 billion. Please provide a better example than Westinghouse and their AP1000.

@Fire.4Effect No you misunderstand the term “average”. The IAEA states this 121months figure is the average construction time for all types of PWR. An average means some will be built quicker than 121 months and some will be built in a longer time frame.

@Fire.4Effect And I agree with you in that specific examples of one off on time on budget PWR can be quoted. No argument there. I’m a little skeptical of Westinghouse claims of PWR construction timelines and costs.

@sirstiffpilchard Like I said put your theory to the market place via a scientific paper and have it peer reviewed and published and a Nobel prize awaits, because what you suggest goes against the accepted science of tens of thousands of scientific papers that warn of the dangers of increasing CO2 in our atmosphere. So who is correct thousands of scientists or a commentator on YouTube?
