Technically due the the UN sanctions and Iraqs illegal behaviour the war against Iraq was not illegal. Unjustified yes, immoral probably, but not illegal.

@AP-ei4jt I understand a legitimate argument can be made for the Iraq war to be illegal, but there is a corresponding argument that it was not. The UK had an inquiry and the best they could come up with was it was questionable. And yes once it comes to state v state war things are grey, unless there is a clear winner. At the end of WWII Curtis Lemay admitted if the US had of lost the war he would have been hung as a war criminal for being the architect of the bombing of Japan.
