@jsmith9705 It is not just a single simply explanation. The indigenous community were not consulted or took part in the formation of our constitution. So they now seek to have that remedied. They also seek offical recognition at a national level of the racism they have faced since Jan 1788. Thirdly a constitutional enshrined voice in parliament, which despite the ridiculous hyperbole expressed in the comments here, is not a third chamber of parliament merely a voice and the shape of that voice will be decided by the parliament, the only stipulation is that it exists, the government of the day doesn’t even have to follow its advice just acknowledge it. The indigenous community simply ask for recognition of their unique place in Australian history.
