@jamespeacock8665 Every single Liberal/National party cabinet member, minister, parliamentary secretary, and committee member, plus the speaker in the house and President of the senate just took a massive pay cut. They have been held to account exactly the way a democracy is meant to function. They are no longer in any decision making positions. Just exactly do you mean by being held accountable?

@jamespeacock8665 Yes you are correct the failures in fully implementing the Gonski reforms rest fully with the Gillard/Rudd/Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison governments. The Gonski report which essentially said funds should be spent where needed, has been deflected because it meant reducing funding to rich private schools where the political powerful send their children. It has been a failure of government not democracy. Gillard lost her job as PM, and has since had a very successful career supporting education. She chairs the Global partnership for Education and is on the board of other NFPs most notably Beyond Blue and Welcome Trust. While far from perfect Julia Gillard has been one of our finest post WWII PMs.
