@sallycent6598 None of that makes the remotest sense.

So 80% of our electricity comes from coal and gas and your blaming the rise in electricity prices on a solar panel on my roof. LMFAO.

@archiefox1414 Yes poor Sally is still trying to form a half sensible response.
2
@grannyannie2948 You got that right.

Gas lead recovery remember gas lead recovery.
2
@frednerk3477 No Im pretty sure, well absolutely certain really that the previous PM declared we were going to have a gas lead recovery and he was going to make sure it happened.

@trg9765 I'm not sure what yelling a incoherent rant at me achieves. I just made a pithy little comment about the previous PMs policy of relying on gas to pull us out of the Covid19 recession. Clearly it hasn't worked, and yes the responsibility now rests with the current government. Let's see how it goes.
1
@trg9765 Could you point to any particular economic or social indicator that suggests or even shows we have gone backwards since 1992?
1
@banjerism7281 OK so the RBA functions as required under the Reserve Bank act 1959 and as such contributes what it can to the stability of the currency, full employment and inflation targets. When the dollar was floated by the Hawke government not long after being elected in the mid 80s there was a whole bunch of economic reforms that followed and was universally applauded by all. Since then the RBA has set the cash rate and it has been high and it has been low. What is your point?
1
@banjerism7281 Yes and although there was some opposition at the time. It proved to be an excellent decision as it set the country up for continued economic success right through the 80s and 90s. In that 30 years we have had two recessions, which compared to the rest of the OECD were minor and we have had years of economic growth, employment growth, huge increases in GNP wealth per capita, it all hasn't been great and equity has widened, but generally speaking to suggest we have gone backwards as a country in the last thirty years just defies the data.
1
@banjerism7281 Which as it turns out has been beneficial to the country as all the data shows.
1
Yeah right the solar panel on my roof not the 80% of electricity produced from coal and gas is to blame for rising prices. LMFAO.
1
@mickoz9389 Yes amazing, we already export far more gas than we use and the specific reason gas prices have soared is literally the sanctions on Russia and the loss of 40% of the gas supply to Europe. Green policy or renewable energy has absolutely nothing to do with the recent gas price hike.
1
@mickoz9389 And by the way it doesn’t help that almost a quarter of our coal plants have been offline this year due to breakdowns and maintenance.
1
But the ex PM told us he was going to lead us to a gas lead recovery. How is that working out for him?
1
What on a sec, I’m pretty sure I remember some assclown swear we were going to have a gas lead recovery
