  1. No the wind generators stopped due to a software glitch that was easily fixed. The generators stopped because the transmission lines went down. This was all covered in the Royal commission and is public knowledge.

  2. @Rend This shows a lack of understanding of the Texas grid. Yes some wind turbines failed, as they had not been winterised. Nuclear, coal, and gas failed because of freezing not wind. On a side note the grid was not expecting any solar generation however some was available. But yes your comment was funny.

  4. Coal production in Australia is heavily subsidised directly by taxpayers. Taxpayers payed for the railway infrastructure used to move the coal. They payed for the coal loaders. They payed for the privatisation of the coal generators. They pay directly still for the 50% discount off the market rate for coal sold to the generators, and finally any fossil fuel used attracts a federal tax subsidy. Coal generators in NSW are actually losing money as even with all these subsidies they can’t compete with cheaper means.

  5. @Rend So do you blame renewables for the blackouts in NSW and Queensland when coal powered generators failed. When the nuclear, coal, and gas generation failed in Texas during a storm, was that’s solars fault, when Victoria had to load she’d was it wind turbines fault? or a failure in the coal and gas infrastructure?

  6.  @hc3657  I’m not signalling anything just laying out the facts. Many of the wests consumer products are manufactured in less than ideal conditions and its a huge problem good see you are woke to it.

While granted it is relatively reliable, are you going to invest your money, because no private investor will, and it is hugely more expensive than wind and solar, all the LCOE studies prove this beyond reasonable doubt. I can only assume money is no object to you and you are not interested in price of electricity when you flip the switch.
