  3. Eagle 56 was originally listed as lost from a boiler explosion but was then reclassified as a sunk by a U-Boat believed to be U-583. Why did the US Navy consider the ship lost by a boiler explosion over a U-Boat, as i can sort of understand the reasoning as the blast was in that area of the ship and U-Boats seemed to be tasked with targeting merchant ships over warships? And why would the captain of the U-Boat attack an escort over a merchant ship it seems to run counter to what the U-Boats were meant to target?
