@jonayz8655 The history of the Americas is a land grab that principally took place between Portugal and Spain in South America and the UK and France in North America, although plenty of other European countries grabbed islands in the Caribbean and got away with it until the French, British, Portuguese, and Spanish noticed.
The Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands never had a native population other than seals and penguins. The UK grabbed the Falkland Islands before the Napoleonic Wars. Why are those wars significant? Because when Napoleon invaded Spain and put his brother on the throne, all of Spain’s overseas dependencies declared themselves as separate from Spain. Spain reassembled itself through the Treaty of Cadiz, which was a declaration of the country’s regions (to that point “Spain” had been an alliance of independent states) to reconstitute themselves as an independent country and fight to throw out the French. The British, in the form of Wellington’s army defeated the French and put the Bourbons back on the throne following the Treaty of Cadiz, which became the country’s new constitution.
Argentina’s declaration of independence from Spain occured in 1810, at which point, the Falkland Islands were already British and not on the table for Argentina to walk away with. Argentina formally became independent in 1816 once all of the dust settled over the Napoleonic Wars. Arenginta had no rights to other Spanish territories at that point and no rights to any claims that Spain had over other territories. Spain implicitly abandoned all claims to territories outside of Iberia by the Treaty of Cadiz. So by 1810, Spain had no claim on the Falkland Islands. When Argentina ceded from Spain it could not possibly have taken with it the claims of Spain, because there weren’t any to take.
Argentina didn’t bother about the Falkland Islands until their economy was ruined by poor administration, then those territorial claims were invented as a diversion.
