@blondejon5538 Are there Polish students demanding Polish history. I know many Slovaks that studied in the UK, none complained because they didn't study Slovak history. As ever, is this really a thing or is it your group think ?

Nuns in convent schools inculcating a child's sense of guilt and shame. What do you say? Should they also be prosecuted? What do you say about wealthy parents packing children off to private school and giving their child a sense of abandonment and a need to compensate for this lack of attention, do they also need prosecution? Because children like this become adults and go on to enact legislation that affect vulnerable people.

The ''Poundshop Enoch Powell'' Farage certainly knows how to divide people. First rule: create outrage of something that is pretty marginal. How many teachers encourage white children to hate themselves, and their country? Many children from white working class backgrounds fall behind because of a lack of support system. 49 percent of children from lone parents are in poverty, 4.3 million children in poverty in the UK in 2020. In the seven years from 2010 to 2017 inflation rose 22 percent, education spending rose by 7 percent. When Farage and two thirds of the Cabinet are privately educated, you really have to ask yourselves if they really have the interests of state school teachers at heart? Or do they want to scapegoat them for the, to use the Thatcherite term, ''managed decline'' of state education in the UK.

@donaldhoult7713 My point was that you cannot teach History and be without bias. You gave some excellent and succinct points about the significance of the B of B, but it had an inherent bias. Even selectivity is bias. Q.E.D.

If you think that B of B was more important turning point in WWII then you are biased.If you select to teach the B of B rather than Stalingrad out of some national pride, then you are simply biased, People on this chat LIKED the idea that one can teach History without bias. There is an element of bias in the teaching of History. So go on then, if you can convince me in terms of losses, strategic importance, and stage of the war that the B of B was more important than Stalingrad then in an unbiased objective way, then respect.

@davidedbrooke9324 It is difficult to assert an argument when people are not willing to listen . Bias is a value judgement and not Left/Right division as you are probably thinking. You also seem to now blame teachers for not listening. Teachers are an easy target for you lot on the Right. State school teachers in the UK are blamed by the government of engendering racism, when the government itself denies institutional racism, as they consider in the police force there are only individual racists. Independent schools are not even inspected by OFSTED. As a teacher, I can encourage true discussion as much as I can but if you students don't have the outside knowledge of the world, we have to focus on more shallow matters. Who do you blame for this? Do you blame teachers, or is it a wider malaise in which a philistine political class engenders an anti-intellectual culture? I don't know when you were educated, but it seems to me that the teacher was the authority and the pupils were willing subjects to listen, and to be compliant, Wanting to reassert that authoritarian structure cannot and should not work. Attempting to revert to a golden age never works. Look at the pre-1973 project the UK is attempting. Anyway, now can I slag off your profession now? BTW, One former student of mine is working in the the Hague on the war crimes tribunal, so I cannot have been that bad.

Maybe by your (biased) assumption that Great Britain equates Empire leads you faulty logic that Nazi Germany winning the B of B would result in them also annexing 25% of the world. Total nonsense. You think that you occupy GB, you therefore also occupy Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc., etc. BTW I teach in the EU and my former students are doing the kinds of jobs that the UK are still allowing EU citizens to do; skilled work because they have good analytical and language skills.

Just a thought: there were partizans fighting for countries that were occupied, such as the Slovak National Uprising of 1944 was a moment when ant-fascists rose up against the occupiers. Check out the experience of the Channel Islands. Another thing: to say that ''it's obvious [I] dislike Britain'' and I am ''clueless'' doesn't make it so. Or did your mum tell you to keep wishing and believe in fairies and unicorns because they will if you wish hard enough? Otherwise, it is a clear right-wing trope. You clearly need attention. Have you ever not done anything because of the colour of your skin? Have you ever been told you are a failure because all people like you are a failure? No? Good, neither have I, but there are surely people who internalise feelings of inadequacy because of who they are, and what they are told in society. I think you really should get out into the countryside and enjoy the air, the mountains as I do everyday.

Interesting: how do you teach history without bias? You give children the critical skills to distinguish what is bias. If you were a History teacher, would you teach the Battle of Britain? It was rather insignificant as a turning point in WWII compared to the Battle of Stalingrad. But no doubt you'd teach Britain's contributions over that of the Russians. Isn't that biased?

This includes citizenship education, and critical thinking skills that challenge the deceit of politicians like Farage and Johnson. Finland has a much better comprehensive education system. The aim is to encourage children to become active, responsible citizens and voters. This is done by informing them about misinformaatio .

At what age are people able to make coherent explanations? Are you putting forward the position that children should learn FACTS, and not think for themselves until you think they are ready? The worrying thing is people LIKE your comment, but see my comment as heretical and wrong. Only a society that encourages the free exchange of ideas can create a democratic and free society.
