Biden articulated that the US is withdrawing because Afghanistan is a cost sink, and the US is needed in Asia and Europe to counter Russia and China. Beowulf Battenberg they’re not running away only 2500 US service members have been killed in the War in Afghanistan, compared to almost 100k Taliban, they could’ve stayed but Trump and later Biden decided that the long term commitment was not worthwhile.

It would be easy enough for the US to keep sanctioning Iran, as well as targeting their power plants and military bases with air strikes from drones, etc. They could kill thousands of Iranian troops/politicians, and inflict billions of dollars in damages to Iran’s government.

No other nation gives as much, especially to the nations it defeats like Iraq or Afghanistan. US also runs NATO which protects the Baltics from Russia, and protects Taiwan from China. US also has mutual defense treaties with most democratic nations on Earth, and opposes the regimes of China and Russia which threaten its neighbors. US looks humanitarian to me, it is the greatest bulwark for civil rights against evil forces.
