  1. The USS Iowa has the Captain's port cabin and the Captain's sea cabin or ready room. The relatively luxurious Captain's port cabin would be high on the list of space available for VIP accommodations.

  2. If the Titanic's coal bunkers had been along the hull the hatches may have been built stronger being seen as part of the anti sinking features. The Tirpitz was stationary where as most ships are running and turning which makes hitting them harder. It wasn't until 1944 that the United States Army Air Force had the planes to match their doctrine which at that point high altitude bombing of ships with dumb bombs was pretty much moot do to lack of targets and the coming guided bombs.
