@eh1702 There never was a blue on blue with 20 KIA, in 1991. The British love to lie about the 91 blue on blue event, but they never get the information correct.
There were many failures in the chain of events. The biggest failure was the misidentification of the target by the A-10 pilot. There was also the fact that the British military did not spend the money to have transponders to identify themselves, so they used orange strips. The British troops were not reported to be in the area, so the air controller gave the clear to engage. The British military has a poor understanding of CAS and air support, because they have a capability gap in that area.
The British never want to write about all of their blue in Afghanistan... interestingly. I recall reading of one event where British officers called in a US air strike on their own troops, The Officers were watching a battle, while being back at base. They felt the need to call in an air strike, but they called it in on their own people. There was also the event, when the British spent hours attacking Dutch forces, despite the Dutch attempting to contact the British and never firing back... interestingly the British also do not want to talk about that.
The US military uses metric, in order to standardize units of measure with our so called "allies". You should know that, if you ever been around the US military.
