@lonevoice Great idea but the over 60's would say they've paid their NI contributions to fund the healthcare they receive 👍

@lonevoice It's completely irrespective, an older person would challenge your view and say they've paid their NI contributions and are entitled to free healthcare under the NHS. You cannot change the fact primary healthcare in the UK is free for all at the point of delivery.

@lonevoice One way older people could contribute towards their healthcare is if they had to continue paying NI contributions beyond their state retirement until their death.

@lonevoice The NHS is funded mainly from general taxation supplemented by National Insurance contributions (NICs). So an older person would say they've paid their taxes during their working lifetime and why should they have to get a loan to pay for their healthcare as you suggest? It would be reasaonable then as a start to extend the NI contributions an older person makes from state retirement age. 👍

@lonevoice You have to accept that the powers that be do not want to make life harder for an older person who has lived and worked in this society and paid taxes all their life. People have to have some respite from the madness! Older people are looked after generously in the UK and they always will be because lots of people dislike old people. Quote - why one is free but the other isn't. ?????
