If you don't think, for ONE second, a dude in prison for life would hesitate 1 second to claim being a woman if it gets him housed with ladies he can then have sex with...as opposed to having to resort to other dudes if he's not truly gay...you are delusional. Sure, not every man will...but a lot will. And maybe it only works for a short time before they get segregated from the biological female population there for it...but they get to engage in it after going YEARS without being with a woman.
