  3.  Brett Mitchell  I guess if the intention was to station an Astute in the Asia Pacific region permanently then having the Aussies man it might be acceptable. Not entirely sure that was the intention though. One for the Navy Lookout regulars to comment on the viability of extending the Barrow yard to accommodate additional production.

  4.  Brett Mitchell  I wasn't sure about that. I knew they could build three and only currently have two under construction. They also have two Dreadnoughts under construction, but I am guessing the space commitment at Barrow is tiny at the moment, if any at all? I guess it depends on how soon they need the space for the first Dreadnought wrt the time to build additional Astute's. So far an Astute is averaging about eight years from lay down to launch. If they can expand the site and build extra Astute boats for Aus, brilliant.
