There are more important things for the RN to spend its defence budget on than nuclear powered carriers, like a few more attack submarines.

@Then.72 Any ship can be sunk by one torpedo, nuclear powered or not. The after effects may be disastrous, but they are perfectly capable war fighting machines.

@Then.72 In what way? They are perfectly "war capable"; they are just too damn expensive to build and operate and offer too few advantages over cheaper, conventionally powered ships.

@Then.72 Again, powering a vessel with a nuclear reactor has pros and cons. Nothing about them prevents the vessel engaging successfully in combat. Whatever the type of vessel, the aim is not to get hit.
