and what do they do to suppress that?
1
i imagine you hear a lot of things especially things that no one else can
1
1) what on earth are you babbling about? My point is we are talking about voter suppression now and that the parties have changed dramatically in the last 50 years. 2) Google Republican Strategy 3) Yes they do. In Republican states they have passed a number of laws to make it difficult for people to vote such as ending same day registration&voting right that many uni students use and strict voter ID laws to name a few.
1
have democrats been actively trying to disenfranchise voters like Republicans have been doing? Another dumbass commenter fail
1
couple of points: 1) That was 50 years ago 2) many of those Democrats switched over to the Republicans as part of the Southern Strategy to court southern Democrats upset that the Democratic Party was supporting civil rights 3) the democrats don't need to admit to it because for the most part many of them were not alive back then nor do they practice voter suppression today. Your point is moot and invalid
1
i do see but the thing is I'm not going to play the "both sides are doing it" when they are clearly not. This video is about voting not the NSA not drones not corporate bullshit. Republicans were suppressing minority votes long before Obama got in office.
1
those are separate issues. Try to stay focused. This is about depriving people of their right to vote which has been pursued by a large body of Republicans from top to bottom.
1
I like how you avoid my points with nothing. Typical
1
but regardless the Democrats aren't actively trying to stop people from voting unlike the Republicans. That is a big difference. This is about the right to vote which is something all citizens should have and yet Republicans have hindered this a number of times. It doesn't matter if people are lying thru their teeth to get votes - that's not illegal or unamerican. What is unamerican is trying to stop people from exercising their rights.

source?

don't blame the democrats for the republicans doing all the wrong moves. The Republicans courted racist Democrats in the 60s, they have repeatedly suppressed minority voters, many of their party officials have been caught making highly inappropiate remarks about women and minorities. Republicans made their bed and now they have to lie in it.
1
and lets not forget the Southern Strategy when Republicans actively courted disgruntled Democrats who were not happy with their party embracing Civil Rights
1
zzzz... typical stereotypes - nothing new here
1
are they going to resort to the same tactics the republicans have done in the past to discourage voting?
1
well many think gerrymandering is what helped the GOP control the House
1
dixiecrats were half-a-century ago and are completely irrelevant to the current situation. Just within the last two decades particularly from the 2000 election onward we have seen numerous attempts by the modern day Republicans to prevent people from voting especially in the swing states
1
3/10 on the troll scale
1
Why would libs care about a dwindling minority? And when have the dreaded libs tried to stop white republicans from voting? Can you point out any examples? On the other hand there are countless examples of republicans trying to disenfranchise minority voters
1
the difference is the democrats haven't actively tried to stop people from voting so your point is moot as it is pointless
1
except no one on the democrat said has said that but someone on the conservative side did say exactly that with black voters.
1
that is the complete opposite of disenfranchising voters, you idiot. Republicans have actively sought to bar people from voting in many areas typically democrat areas
1
no it's not, you obstinate moron! Read a damn dictionary! Voting is a right of all citizens. The republicans have actively sought to deprive voters of that right with election day roadblocks, ID checks, announcing wrong time&days, etc...
1
there's a difference between "would" and "are." I'd rather focus on reality that hypotheticals. The fact is each major election especially since 2000 has had numerous attempts by Republicans to suppress voting.
