You did know that the Viet Cong whom I believe you were referencing were rendered ineffective as a fighting force after Tet, right? The US wasn't not beaten militarily by a gun-toting peasants who were organized and trained by the NVA. It was a complicated issue where political the US could never win. guns themselves had little to do with it
