The irony to me is that Bellamy was a socialist Christian, as Ed noted. Atheism and communism are two separate things.

  5.  @johnladuke6475  I can send you a picture of my paper dictionary if you wish, it's the one I tend to use, but if you want to mention Google, here are the Google synonyms for conflate: meld, fuse, amalgamate, unify, consolidate, converge, unite, blend, coalesce, combine, commingle, network, mix, mingle, pool. Ive checked the next four hits and can't find the word confuse in any of them. Did you really mean to say communism inherently included communism by the way? I am sure you didn't. The interesting thing again is that there is still discussion about Marx and his own spiritual beliefs, and indeed 'religion is the opiate of the people' has been interpreted in many ways, not just to say Marx was an atheist. Marxism-Leninism is a slightly different kettle of fish I'll grant you.
