France, Italy and especially Germany was in full pre-emptive surrender mode early on, and until autumn 2022, they just wanted to keep getting Russian gas and oil, they put their economy before Ukrainian sovereignty.... Once the west gets the message that Russia was not a strong as their propaganda claimed, then escalation will not worry them, how come it took so long ?
