  4.  @hgv1883  It is a military fact that supply lines are the most vulnerable part of any attack and the longer they are the easier it is for the enemy to hit them. Part of the reason Russia ejected the Germans in WW2 ( apart from the truly eye-watering amount of aid and military intelligence from the west ) was that German supply lines kept being hit, not the first time Russia has been saved from invaders by its huge size rather than any military prowess. Germany was targeting British supply lines with U-Boats in WW2, and Churchill later admitted that 'it was the only thing that ever truly scared him'...
