Basically Putin promised his Oligarch mates the raw materials and industrial capacity of Ukraine.... Ukraine oil and gas are much closer to Europe and Black Sea for shipping.

France already has white for their battle flag, a white cross on a white background

The softly-softly approach of USA over Ukraine has given all the enemies of the west more confidence that 'USA will not react'... There are too many countries like Hungary, Turkey and Italy in NATO who are not committed to article 5 and cannot be relied on.

@jajabez8379 A great many French soldiers were rescued at Dunkirk by the British while under fire from German guns and airforce. The biggest mistake Britain made was to put British expeditionary force under control of the French.. By the time D day happened Britain, USA and Canada were all safe and they really had no reason to rescue France, because allies were already in Italy approaching Germany from the south and Russia was approaching Germany from the East. I would have expected French to take part in D day because it was their country that was being liberated, which involved the lives of many allied troops. At the start of WW2 France had a larger military and a lot more weapons than Germany did and if they had attacked Germans instead of waiting for Germans to attack them things may have turned out differently. Remember also that De Gaulle spent the war skulking in UK, returned to France when it was safe and proceeded to bad mouth the British. Don't forget also that after the Russian invasion of Ukraine Putin spent 12 months trying to get Ukraine to surrender and give up land, and only decided to help Ukraine once he failed. Cheese eating surrender monkeys in WW2 and in Ukraine.
