  1. The M79 is rather large, but the M83 is smaller.

  2. Tiere had been one company in northern germany producing lever action rifles, and one company in southern germany producing slide/pump action shotguns. But german hunters etc. had not been interessted in such arms, so both companies stopped pruduction rather fast.

  3.  @DarnedYankee  : As i noted in my first comment, the first model M79 was rather large and heavy, for this reason the second model M83 was smaller and lighter, so more liked by unmounted soldiers.

  4.  @juanzulu1318  : Even today lever action rifles and and pump action shotguns are known, but not very common used by german hunters. But it seems to change in the last decade, the number of wild boar became a problem here.. On the other hand, US- hunters rarely use Drillinge or Vierlinge ( Tip down/break down guns with three or four barrels) ,
