It seems Drachinifel has a rather subtle opinion of Winston Churchill, based on several of his posts. The Dunkirk evacuation had ended on June 4th, 1940. The Battle of Britain, which everyone expected in some form, began July 10th, 1940. Winston had a lot on his plate, including wondering who in the government and services did not have the mindset for the war that needed to be fought, with incomplete and constantly shifting knowledge. As I approach is age of that time, the great wonder is he didn't die from a heart attach under the pressure.
People had other, political reasons, to discredit him by all means possible. (Which seems a shame as there were enough true reasons to stick too) This does bring up the problem of forming an accurate history on any controversial historic figure, Beatty, Halsey, etc.
