  3.  @coloerakker2  Tbh that's not too hard to explain, bc my dad lives here in Austria ever since, so he isn't as connected to Hungarian politics as he'd be, if he lived and voted there. He hears those "Orbán typical politician speeches" only occasionally and what other still local Hungarians are telling him and of course that's not the same full unfiltered impression, he'd have if he'd still live there himself. He said, initially Orbán was "well hidden", like e.g. he didn't give in, when certain countries leaders (like Putin and Lukashenka) tried to weaponize refugees, first they had lured them there mostly into Belarus, then wanted to send them through Hungarian territory, which also spared Austria lots of bureaucracy, like costs of registering them, housing them, feeding them, just to have to send them back bc those are capacities only planted for real emergencies (like what happened to Ukrainians). It's also worth mentioning, that especially Lukashenka made tons of money with human trafficking, knowing full well that our western countries simply couldn't afford to take half of Africa in ... so Austria, Hungary, plus numerous other European countries like Germany were left with paying the bills and "picking up the pieces" after their arrivals through hidden channels anyways. When the Russian invasion started though, nobody had expected that Orbán would make Europe and generally NATO such a huge amount of troubles ... & due to Orbán's previous behaviour everybody was shocked, he suddenly turned into Putin's supporter; nobody had expected that and most Hungarians my dad knows all highly doubt he'll get elected again. My dad's very unhappy with Orbán, but he's an Austrian citizen voting here and can only do his best talking to his relatives and explaining the situation to them, bc he's afraid Orbán's using Russian propaganda tactics now and maybe he also did that in an unnoticed manner in the past.
