Let's hear from the Jewish students actually protesting.

We can see the war crimes. We can see the protests for ceasefire, even in Tel Aviv. ππ

Β @jewels964Β I'm not so sure they were "war chants." I will agree that they were interpreted as such by one specific culture involved in this debacle. But that single context does not hold for the diaspora of people using certain words like "freedom" or "uprising" or "revolution." Taken literally, or from one of multiple other contexts, they are not actually war chants. For example, there is the context of the "student intifada" which is clearly about academic reform. But I can empathize with those cheers riling you up. They aren't super helpful. But, people are angry and mourning. Too many people, on both sides.

Β @jewels964Β There's one Jewish student giving interviews to international TV about what happened to the students on the UCLA campus. Specifically, he speaks of how a violent mob came from off campus and attacked them for hours without police intervention. The night before the police removed their tents. Meanwhile, CP24 gives us this. π

Brave, bright, and inspiring. Future leaders in this country, I hope. ππππππ

Fascist.

Β @jewels964Β Are you kidding? They are among those leading. Rabbi Dovid Feldman was invited to speak at McGill 2 days ago. Naomi Klein delivered a historic speech to Jewish Voices for Peace in the streets of NYC like 10 days ago. Where have you been :(

Β @jewels964Β I can personally say that I was awake all night that night watching from a feed from a drone in the sky. It's on youtube if you want an unedited recording of the events. Staff and Faculty that witnessed it are also holding media conferences and speaking out. The police chief is on the news and might lose his job. The worst part for me is that it is days later and not one of them has been arrested. I think the arrest total on the following night, when police cleared the UCLA encampment, is about 132, and the size of the crowd that was there, maybe 9-10x that.

Β @MrYaniv99Β That isn't happening inside those tents though, is it?

I didn't see those signs pop up until that mob attacked the camp at UCLA. One context I've heard for it is martyred children, babies, you know, the family members of one side. Clearly not in active military or even civil service for a government (and terrorist) organization that came to power before they were even born. But it's not great. Have we tried or considered not making more martyrs?

Insulting and verbally attacking the protestors instead of the government accused of genocide and war crimes. It's got to be tough defending that reckless slaughter without ad hominems. πππ

Β @wqv5423lnΒ Yeah, maybe that's true of the students from Tel Aviv.

No kids should grow up in terror. πππ

Β @brendabrinkmanpasichnyk3500Β Then they need better lessons in those schools. But it would have been good to keep some of the universities. For a later.

Is this an argument for Occupy to be allowed back instead of brutally repressed?

Β @jewels964Β To be clear, UCLA is in California. I added this in another response with further details about injuries but looks like that one's censored.

Really? The bot gets to make this comment and I can't declare my support for them in opposition, even though I'm real?

Once upon a time there was another man that deported minorities he disagreed with. Not once, not twice, but in their millions, on frozen, miserable trains from all across Europe. The ones that survived the trip were put into camps, often outdoors and exposed to the elements. They didn't have enough food, clean water, clothing, healthcare, and it became an unfolding genocide. A lot of people tried very hard for a very long time to ensure that we learned our lessons from the mess he made.ππππ

Β @CanadianEhHoleΒ π― ! Great comment, thanks, even for disagreeing a little. I will respond that there is a meaningful difference between many of those atrocities and the one that we're funding, allied with, actively working with, investing in and profiting from. Part of that meaningful difference is culpability and responsibility. And that your addendum is not exactly a justification for those still screaming for deportation, even into Palestine.
